Joan Llaverias is a Catalan artist whose work depicts the emergence of colours, such as those that appear in their pure state.
As soon as he started painting as a child, Llaverias transformed images into geometric shapes. He then studied etching, ceramics and, later, jewellery design in Barcelona. He has been dedicating himself to painting for more than 20 years and has held onto abstraction, which acts as a guideline in all his work.
Llaveria’s abstract work seeks to explore the limits of painting, with regards to both shapes and colours. In the paintings alluding to the hippy movement of the ‘60s, the artist seeks to find and invent images that are not yet known or that have not been used.
